DRAFT MP2040 Comprehensive Plan

The Draft Comprehensive Plan brings together a year of community input, technical analysis, and Steering Committee direction into a single document. It outlines a long-term vision for Mount Prospect through 2040 and includes the policies and recommendations that will guide housing, transportation, economic development, parks, community facilities, and land use decisions.

The draft builds on the vision, goals, and objectives developed earlier in the process and lays out the strategies and action items needed to carry them out, including an implementation matrix identifying responsible parties and general timeframes.

This is your opportunity to review the full plan before it moves forward. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on the draft plan in August [insert date once confirmed], followed by Village Board consideration. We encourage you to read the plan and share your feedback before then.

Vison, Goals and Objectives Report

The Vision, Goals, and Objectives Report is a foundational document for the Comprehensive Plan that reflects community input gathered over the past year.

The report establishes a long-term vision for Mount Prospect through 2040 and sets the goals and objectives that will guide the plan's policies and recommendations across housing, transportation, economic development, parks, community facilities, and more.

Also included is the MP2040 Future Land Use Guide, which describes how different parts of the Village could grow and change over time. The Guide is a policy document, not a zoning map — it does not change existing zoning or commit the Village to any specific project. Any change to permitted land uses would still require a full public review process, including rezoning hearings, Planning and Zoning Commission review, and Village Board approval.

We invite all residents, property owners, and stakeholders to review the report and share your feedback. Your input will help shape the policies and priorities that guide Mount Prospect's future.

Community Engagement Report

The Community Engagement Report captures the voices behind MP2040. Through surveys, public meetings, intercept events, and online input, hundreds of Mount Prospect community members shared their priorities, concerns, and aspirations for the Village's future. This report summarizes participation across all outreach phases and identifies the themes that have guided the plan's goals and recommendations. Click/tap the button below to download the report:
